The Workforce Development and Economic Mobility/Prosperity Working Group at AIR
Rapid advances in technology and automation—accelerated by the COVID‑19 pandemic—have disrupted the U.S. workforce and displaced millions of workers. Employers increasingly struggle to find talent with the right skills, while fewer students are completing postsecondary education, once a reliable pathway to good jobs. With support from the AIR Opportunity Fund, AIR conducted a series of landscape analyses to identify key workforce development challenges and opportunities.
Propelling Futures Forward: Jobs-First Pathways in Health Care for Young Adults
AIR is partnering with Propel America to evaluate the program’s impact and identify what is needed to scale effective sector‑based workforce training for higher‑wage health care pathways.
Pathways from Waitlists to Person-Centered Supports for People with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (PATH-IDD)
The PATH-IDD project is building evidence to identify effective and fair health care policies that strengthen Medicaid home and community-based services programs and improve outcomes for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Advancing Workforce Knowledge Through the NTEWS, ATES, and NATES Data Collections
AIR implemented survey design, data processing, and reporting tasks from 2009 to 2025 to ensure the collection and production of high-quality, timely data on the characteristics and experiences of the skilled technical workforce through the National Training, Education, and Workforce Survey.
Building Evidence for Faster Reemployment Through RESEA
The Reemployment Services and Eligibility Assessment (RESEA) program was designed to help unemployment insurance claimants return to work more quickly. The Reemployment Services and Eligibility Assessment Evidence Building Portfolio Project (RESEA EBPP) is building evidence on how RESEA and reemployment services speed UI claimants to reemployment. AIR is providing evaluation.
