Defining Jobs for Effective Talent Solutions | Human Capital Strategies
At AIR, we help clients develop and implement effective talent solutions by conducting job and practice analyses, as well as building competency models that define the skills and behaviors critical for success.
Job and practice analysis is a systematic approach to defining the duties, responsibilities, and essential requirements of a job. It provides critical and foundational information to understand and define what it takes to succeed in a role. Competency modeling builds on this by developing comprehensive frameworks that define the requirements associated with successful performance in a job or industry.
We use the information from these approaches to develop and implement data-driven processes for hiring, training, and performance management, ensuring organizations can effectively identify, select, and develop top talent.
Our Projects
Enhancing Electrician Apprenticeship Selection and Retention
AIR partnered with the electrical training ALLIANCE to conduct job analyses for Inside Wireman and Outside Lineman roles. These efforts were foundational to developing, validating, and maintaining a robust apprentice selection system. The analysis pinpointed the key factors for success, enabling a selection process that zeroes in on candidates with high potential.
Practice Analysis for Certified Public Accountants
AIR recently collaborated with the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) to update its practice analysis of certified public accountants (CPA). Our team examined recent shifts in the profession, particularly those related to technology and data analytics. The results provided the evidence needed to revise the Uniform CPA Examination's blueprint, keeping the test aligned with real-world demands and the skills essential for newly licensed CPAs.
Job Analysis and Competency Architecture for a Transit Authority
AIR partnered with a major transit authority to conduct a strategic job analysis and competency modeling effort. This information informed an update of job descriptions and helped us identify new competencies that addressed evolving technology and demographics. This initiative was designed to move the organization from its current state to a more future-ready one.
Bridging Industries and Education Using Competency Models
AIR is working with the Department of Labor to provide technical assistance for the Competency Model Clearinghouse. We create and validate competency models that define the skills needed in vital industries like manufacturing and health care. These models serve as a common framework, supporting workforce and economic development initiatives, including apprenticeships and job training programs.
Job Description Update for Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority
AIR partnered with the Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority (MNAA) to review and update all job descriptions in preparation for anticipated passenger and population growth. We created new job descriptions aligned with MNAA's culture and values to meet the organization's staffing, compensation, and regulatory compliance needs.
