Strengthening Workforce Engagement at South Carolina Medicaid
Employee engagement plays an important role in workforce retention, employee well-being, customer service, and organizational performance. The South Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (SCDHHS), which administers the state’s Medicaid program, Healthy Connections, is partnering with AIR to better understand and strengthen employee engagement across the agency.
AIR designs, administers, and analyzes SCDHHS’s annual employee engagement survey. The survey examines factors that influence employee experience and retention, including job satisfaction, work-life balance, career growth opportunities, teamwork, and collaboration.
Beyond data collection and analysis, AIR helps SCDHHS turn survey findings into action. By identifying strengths and opportunities for improvement, this work supports informed decision-making and helps strengthen communication, accountability, team effectiveness, and other workplace conditions that contribute to a high-performing workforce.
