P3 Africa Virtual Learning Library | P3 Africa
Together with our university and research partners, AIR P3 Africa connects graduate students enrolled in universities across Africa with free access to high quality learning and skill building opportunities and resources. Led by AIR experts and other industry leaders, these virtual sessions garner several hundred students in attendance per session and recordings are hosted for ongoing access in this Learning Library.
In-Person Learning Events
P3 Africa has organized several in-person learning events designed for advanced master’s degree and Ph.D. students, early-career researchers, and junior faculty.
Highlights include:
- Impact evaluation courses held in partnership with the African Economic Research Consortium in Nairobi, Kenya (2023 & 2024)
- An event at the African Population Conference in Lilongwe, Malawi, co-hosted with Union for African Population Studies, as well as a proposal writing workshop in Nairobi, Kenya (2024)
- An impact evaluation course with the University of Dar es Salaam in Tanzania (2023)
These events provide opportunities for hands-on learning, collaboration, and professional development across Africa.

Proposal Development Webinar Series
This three-part series is facilitated by AIR experts Dr. David Seidenfeld, Vice President, International Development, and Senior Economists Dr. Adria Molotsky and Dr. Marlous de Milliano. The sessions are designed to strengthen researchers’ skills in developing competitive proposals for non-academic funding.
STATA Tricks Webinar Series
In this webinar series, Dr. Sudhanshu Handa, AIR Institute Fellow and Professor of Public Policy at the University of North Carolina, USA, and Dr. Paul Sirma, Transfer Project Research Affiliate, demonstrate how to produce rich descriptive graphs of data as well as summary graphs of coefficient estimates from regression models.
Applied Quantitative Analysis
Across this series of 14 sessions, Dr. Sudhanshu Handa dives deep into theory and practice for seven different aspects of applied quantitative analysis. With occasional guest lectures by specialists in the field, discover topics including potential outcomes and omitted variable bias, difference-in-differences, propensity score matching, and more.
Gender Analysis in Development
These two sessions include a technical discussion on models of household decision-making and gender-informed measurement considerations in development, as well as a deep dive into using the Women’s Empowerment in Agriculture Index in applied research.
Evidence Synthesis
This webinar session was an informative discussion on what evidence synthesis is, how to search for research products relevant to research questions, and methods that can be used to systematically make sense of the evidence that is found.
