These two webinar sessions, part of the AIR P3 Africa Program, include a technical discussion on models of household decision-making and gender-informed measurement considerations in development, as well as a deep dive into using the Women’s Empowerment in Agriculture Index in applied research.

The first webinar was a technical session on models of household decision-making and measurement issues around gender in development. Specific topics included: 1) unitary, bargaining, and collective models of household decision-making and implications for empirical analysis; 2) measurement of women’s status, decision-making, agency and empowerment in development; and 3) illustrative examples of applied gender analysis in development.

The second webinar was a practical session on constructing and using the WEAI in applied research. The WEAI is a multidimensional index designed to measure the empowerment, agency, and inclusion of women in agriculture.
