The Quantitative Evidence Synthesis Training (QuEST) program equips the next generation of social and behavioral science researchers to use powerful quantitative evidence synthesis approaches in their work. Made possible by the AIR Opportunity Fund, the QuEST program serves graduate students at AIR’s Pipeline Partnership Program (P3) U.S. universities.
Connecting Students with Evidence Synthesis Training
Quantitative evidence synthesis is a research methodology that focuses on combining findings across studies using statistical analysis.
While individual studies typically focus on a single program, policy, practice, or sample, evidence syntheses can reveal patterns of findings across studies, correct for well-established research and reporting biases, and advance understanding of for whom and under what circumstances effects are likely to be observed.
While evidence syntheses are increasingly valued for their ability to generate actionable insights and inform policy, opportunities to formally learn these methods are not yet widespread in graduate programs within the social and behavioral sciences.
Filling this gap, AIR’s QuEST program empowers students with specialized skills that enhance their ability to integrate quantitative evidence synthesis into their current academic work and future research.
The QuEST Approach
Led by experienced AIR researchers, QuEST offers a comprehensive learning experience including virtual events, in-person training, and ongoing mentorship. These opportunities support students in mastering quantitative evidence synthesis methodologies and developing meta-analysis projects aligned with their academic and professional aspirations.
This dynamic approach not only builds participants’ research capacities but also enhances their career readiness and strengthens the talent pipeline in the social and behavioral sciences.
Our Team
QuEST programs are led by a team of interdisciplinary researchers with broad expertise in evidence synthesis methods. Most are researchers within AIR’s Methods of Synthesis and Integration Center, and all share a commitment to conducting research synthesis, using evidence to improve research and practice across disciplines, and supporting the next generation of social and behavioral science researchers.
