Developing Teacher AI Literacy Scales to Measure AI Knowledge, Skills, and Attitudes (DETAILS)

AI literacy is quickly evolving from something that was once considered a specialized skill to a core competency for economic and workforce participation. Teachers play an important role in developing students’ competencies and skills in AI, so developing measures to understand teachers’ own AI literacy is vital to preparing students for an evolving workforce.

AIR is developing evidence-based scales to measure teachers’ AI-related knowledge, skills, and attitudes with funding from the National Science Foundation. In partnership with the Institute for Advancing Computing Education, this project is surveying educators, convening subject matter experts, and rigorously testing instruments to support the production of new teacher AI literacy scales.
