New and Ongoing Studies | Project Talent
Project Talent 1950 Census Linkage. Project Talent participants are linked to individual-level 1950 census data. Participants were aged approximately 3-7 years in 1950. The 1950 individual-level census questions include detailed information on street address, country of birth for all household participants, and occupation of persons 14 years of age and over.
Project Talent Quality of Life (PTQOL). PTQOL includes qualitative interviews with 965 participants who were 15 years old in 1960. Interviews were conducted in 1975, when participants were approximately 30 years old. Data include information on in-depth information on family of origin and family formation, primary through post-secondary educational experiences, work experiences, familial and personal relationships, socioeconomic status, health, activities, and interests. We are using machine learning and natural language processing techniques to digitize and code interviews.
Project Talent Healthcare Access Indicators. Project Talent participants are linked to data on availability of clinicians and healthcare clinics made available for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid, the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, and the Health Resources and Services Administration. Data include information on clinic-level characteristics, number of clinicians, and availability of primary and specialty care services. Flags are added for individuals included in the LINKAGE study, and suspected decedents. At the start of this project, we will link participants to the most current available data. We will add retrospective data going back to 2010, when participants were in their sixth decade of life. Additionally, new data will be added annually.
Project Talent Environmental Indicators. Project Talent participants are linked to environmental quality data made available by the Environmental Protection Agency. Data include information on air quality, water, and toxics release. Flags are added for individuals living in environmentally disadvantaged areas, individuals included in the LINKAGE study, and suspected decedents. We will also include structured data on significant climate events, like hurricanes, flooding, or extreme temperatures. At the start of this project, we will link participants to the most current data available. We will then add retrospective data to the extent it is available. For example, air quality data go back to 1980, while toxic release inventory data only go back to 1987 and reporting facilities change over time. Additionally, new data will be added annually.
