Andrew Wayne, a managing research analyst at AIR, is a researcher and policy expert on educator effectiveness. He has published in such journals as Educational Leadership, Educational Researcher, and Review of Educational Research. He currently serves as the project director for the Institute of Education Sciences’ (IES) Teacher and Leader Evaluation Systems Study, which is a five-year, randomized controlled trial that is testing the impact of a package of evaluation system components that include feedback for teachers and principals using measures of student growth and professional practice.
Dr. Wayne is also the principal investigator of an evaluation of the U.S. Department of Education’s grant to the National Center for Teacher Residencies to establish nine new teacher residency programs. He serves as a content advisor for the What Works Clearinghouse.
