Maggie Trout

Maggie Trout helps build educator and leadership capacity to implement evidence-based literacy practices at the Center on Multitiered Systems of Support (MTSS Center) at AIR. Drawing on her prior experience as a teacher, literacy coach, high ability program coordinator, and literacy and curriculum coordinator, Trout plans, coordinates, delivers actionable professional learning, and develops practical tools that support educators’ implementation of evidence-based literacy practices. Through her work within school districts and at AIR, she supports local and state education agencies in translating reading science into practice through targeted professional learning opportunities and ongoing coaching partnerships.

Previously, Trout served as a training, coaching, and technical support specialist for the Regional Educational Laboratory (REL) Midwest, a project lead for the West Comprehensive Center, and technical assistance liaison for the Comprehensive Literacy State Development (CLSD) National Literacy Center. Trout has created high-quality professional learning that was contextualized for state and local areas and aligned with evidence-based practices, developed practical implementation tools, and provided technical assistance catered to the state and district needs and their stages of implementation. In addition, she has curated repositories of evidence-based resources for national centers and state education agencies.
