Laura Checovich

Senior Communications Specialist

Laura Checovich is dedicated to promoting evidence-based policymaking and practice by making research accessible using knowledge translation and mobilization strategies including written products, events, documentaries, workshops, newsletters, data visualizations, videos, and social media. She is attentive to how the audiences reached by her work, from state policymakers to classroom teachers, consume information and works closely with researchers and technical assistance providers to create resources that meet their needs.

Checovich implements effective and engaging communication systems that enable routine, ongoing assessment of client and recipient needs as well as feedback on services provided. She has managed communications for the Strategic Funding and Finance Center, Regional Educational Laboratory (REL) Southwest, Community Schools Southern Partnership for Advancement, Resources, & Knowledge (CS-SPARK), Center for STEM Education Research and Translation, Research on Education Strategies to Advance Recovery and Turnaround (RESTART) Network, and REL Midwest. Prior to AIR, Checovich also managed communications for the Council of Chief State School Officers (CCSSO). She has extensive experience working with state and local education agencies as a strategic thought partner. 

Checovich is a leader within AIR on methods to communicate research and evaluation and translate knowledge for use in technical assistance. She is a certified project management professional (PMP).
