Instructional Coaching │ District and School Improvement Center

"The coaching experience is a collaborative, impactful part of teacher learning that helps me feel supported and part of a strong adult learning community. Thank you coaches!"

— 7th-grade English teacher

We believe that instructional coaching and support for teachers must include a focus on literacy and numeracy across the content areas and disciplines, and be personalized to fit your district and school needs. AIR Coaches have expertise and experience in an array of coaching services and are trained in a collaborative process that includes both teachers and administrators. The coaching process described below produces ownership of instruction through a continuous improvement model that includes a regular reflection on practice.

Video Coaching

Video coaching provides a non-intrusive way for teachers and coaches to capture instruction to reflect on practice after viewing each uploaded video.

Blended Coaching

Blended coaching provides the in-depth benefits of face-to-face coaching along with the flexible support of video coaching.

Coaching Cycle

"Extremely useful! I was provided feedback and advice on things I would have never seen or thought of myself."

— 10th-grade Biology teacher

Using the Coaching Cycle, AIR coaches will work with the teachers to Set Goals aligned to school or teacher initiatives. From there, coaches will determine the Coaching Activity or Activities that will provide the needed support, and then Collect Data to assess progress toward the goals. And since this is a continuous improvement process, the coach and teacher will Reflect and Refine the Instruction and activities to set the stage for another coaching cycle.
