The Center on Great Teachers and Leaders (GTL Center) works side-by-side with states, educator preparation programs, districts, and community partners.
Our team can help build a bridge from today's unique educator workforce challenges to a future where every school and every student can thrive by learning from a talented, diverse educator workforce.
Our Work
What We Do
We offer three tiers of services—from expert consultation to full-service supports—that we tailor to help states and their districts select and implement evidence-based, talent management practices.
Why We Do It
We believe that promoting educational equity, making data-informed decisions, leading with engagement and belonging, and connecting peers around common goals are core principles for achieving transformational, sustained change in educator workforce policies and practices at the national, state, and local levels.
Where We Work
We have supported all 50 states and territories, multiple regional centers, and many districts, often through cross-state and district collaborations. We are experts at bringing key brokers to the table to improve educational opportunities, close achievement gaps, and ensure all students receive high-quality instruction.
Featured Project
National Collaborative on Educator Workforce Shortages and Diversity
To support states in addressing urgent educator workforce challenges, from 2022-2024, the Center engaged three state teams from Hawai'i, Ohio, and Louisiana to participate in a National Collaborative. This two-year, data-driven facilitated coaching process helped cross-agency, state teams understand the root causes of shortages and gaps in educator workforce diversity and find solutions that are equity-focused and built for sustainability.
