Bringing together education policy and technical assistance experts, state and local educators, school district representatives, and others, AIR’s Attendance Lab provides customized support and resources to help schools improve student engagement and boost attendance.
Partnering with AIR’s Attendance Lab means that states and school districts will have access to technical assistance support from AIR experts who have expertise across a variety of content areas and research methods. Our experts are already helping schools to:
- Use evidence-based strategies—such as family feedback on attendance communication—to better engage students and boost daily attendance.
- Collect data, provide in-depth analysis, and make evidence-based recommendations on how to engage disconnected youth.
- Support the use of tools like the Early Warning Intervention and Monitoring System (EWIMS)—a user-friendly, evidence-based framework that helps educators recognize risk factors and act quickly—to identify and mitigate early warning signs that can contribute to missed school days.
Our experts and technical assistance providers understand the complexities of this topic and will adapt to meet whatever needs that schools have. We can evaluate the challenge, bring evidence to bear on potential solutions, and work with states to implement policy change and adapt to complex circumstances.
As AIR’s Attendance Lab expands to reach more schools across the country, we will continue helping educators to conduct root cause analyses, develop policy and systems-level implications, and initiate a process to support selection, implementation, and monitoring of student engagement interventions.
