The Institute for Education Sciences (IES) at the U.S. Department of Education has recently published the findings of a randomized study conducted through a partnership between AIR and MDRC. The study examines the impact and implementation of the Content Literacy Curriculum, a tiered whole-school intervention aimed at improving adolescent literacy. During the 2008-09 and 2009-10 school years, 33 high schools from nine districts in four Midwestern states participated in the evaluation. A full explanation of the intervention, the study, and the findings can be found on the IES website.
