Social and Emotional Learning for Children and Youth in Bangladesh
Social and emotional learning includes mastery of skills such as recognizing and managing emotions, setting and achieving positive goals, appreciating perspectives of others, establishing and maintaining positive relationships, making responsible decisions, and handling interpersonal situations constructively.
AIR has partnered with BRAC (formerly the Bangladesh Rural Advancement Committee) to support social and emotional learning among children and adolescents in BRAC schools and programs in marginalized communities across Bangladesh.
AIR’s work with BRAC since 2009—primarily funded by the NoVo Foundation—has included developing an understanding of social and emotional learning among staff; supporting social and emotional learning standards and curriculum components for BRAC preschools and primary schools; and supporting the development of enhanced social and emotional learning supports in programs for adolescents.
