Sickle Cell Guidelines

Project

AIR is working alongside the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute to develop, implement, and evaluate the National Blood Disorders Program. The NBDP’s initial focus is on sickle cell disease and the release of the first evidence-based clinical practice guidelines to manage the condition.

Besides supporting the Expert Panel writing the guidelines with logistical support, we have also identified and collaborated with a group of stakeholders to develop a strategic plan to promote and disseminate the guidelines. Another focus is developing tools and strategies derived from the guidelines to best meet provider needs and ultimately improve the care and outcomes of those living with sickle cell disease.
