Evaluation of the Alaska Initiative for Community Engagement

Client: Association of Alaska School Boards
Year: 2004 -2009

The purpose of this contract was for AIR to design an impact evaluation of the Alaska ICE initiative that documented its progress, determined its efficacy, and provide evidence reports to federal sponsors and community stakeholders.

Alaska ICE is the Alaska Initiative for Community Engagement, a project of the Association of Alaska School Boards (AASB), whose mission is to advocate for children and youth by assisting school boards in providing quality public education focused on student achievement, through effective local governance. As the Youth Advocacy/Community Engagement branch of AASB, Alaska ICE complements this mission by giving Alaskans at the local level the information, tools, and assistance to work together and engage in the shared responsibility for preparing Alaska's children and youth for the future. AIR conducted three separate but aligned and highly coordinated evaluations: (1) for the Quality Schools, Quality Students (QS2) initiative; (2) for the Community Engagement Initiative; and (3) for the Anchorage School District.
