Conditions for Learning Survey

Project

AIR supports improved student and school performance through the Conditions for Learning Survey, administered in schools across the United States, including the Cleveland Metropolitan School District. The survey assesses four core constructs within elementary, middle and high schools:

  • A safe and respectful climate
  • Challenge/high expectations
  • Student support
  • Social and emotional learning

AIR carried out the data collection and processing for the Conditions for Learning survey in Cleveland schools. In collaboration with other programs at AIR, CSM staff scored and analyzed the student responses and translated the results into school- and district-level reports. These reports inform programs and policies to improve student support and school performance management.

Additionally, AIR recently led the Conditions for Learning survey's transition from a paper-and-pencil survey to an online administration, ensuring that the survey’s measures remained methodologically sound.
