AIR Vice President Fleischman Testifies Before a House Subcommittee on the Need for Federal Support of Education Reform Efforts

Washington, D.C. - Steve Fleischman, an American Institutes for Research vice president, testified Wednesday, March 28, 2007 before the U.S. House of Representatives' Subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies about the need for federal support for school reform efforts.

Fleischman testified on behalf of the National Education Knowledge Industry Association (NEKIA), of which AIR is an active member. He serves as a member of NEKIA's Executive Committee.

"NEKIA is a nonprofit, nonpartisan trade association dedicated to expanding the use of research-based knowledge in policy and practice in K-12 education," he said in remarks prepared for delivery to the subcommittee. "We firmly believe that the effective use of research-based knowledge can significantly enhance and accelerate the nationwide efforts to improve academic performance and close achievement gaps in K-12 education."
