Flora Harmon

Flora Harmon is a researcher at AIR. Her work focuses on advancing equitable based practices in early childhood and child welfare systems. Dr. Harmon has been working in the early childhood field since 2006 and has extensive research and practice expertise in the areas of equity, early childhood education, child welfare, and equitable professional development practices. 

In her current role, Dr. Harmon is a qualitative and design lead for federally funded Education Innovation and Research projects in Michigan that focuses on preschool access and preschool to kindergarten transition. She also provides technical assistance for state-based initiatives that focus on addressing teacher shortages and building capacity for states to effectively and equitably improve systems serving children with (dis)abilities. 

Dr. Harmon has extensive experience in qualitative and mixed method research, cultural and equity based theoretical frameworks, research design, and development of professional trainings and interventions. Previously, Dr. Harmon was an instructor and instructional coach for Texas A&M University.
