Amber Bloomfield

Amber Bloomfield leads initiatives at the intersection of artificial intelligence (AI), education, and data science. With over 15 years of experience in data science and education research, and more than a decade working with AI methods, Bloomfield brings deep expertise in AI policy, generative AI applications, and administrative data analysis. At AIR, she develops institutional AI policies, participates in AI tool approval processes, and leads the creation of AI-driven educational software. She serves as lead of a working group on AI Guidance, Policies, and Compliance as part of AIR’s AI Steering Committee, where she crafts ethical guidelines and training resources for responsible AI use.

Dr. Bloomfield directs the Classroom Automated Feedback Environment (CAFE) project, which uses generative AI to analyze classroom audio and video, and directed the development of the Rhode Island Strategic Planning System, which supports district-level decision making through data visualization. Her work on the Veterans Education Success (VES) Post-9/11 GI Bill Usage project has informed congressional staff and Veterans Affairs leadership on educational outcomes for veterans.

She has extensive experience in research design, working with disparate data sources, developing and applying analysis approaches, and communicating findings to stakeholders.
