Measuring the Effectiveness and Cost of Post-pandemic Academic Recovery Programs
Measuring the effectiveness of post-pandemic academic recovery programs can seem like a complex and daunting task, often requiring additional support from evaluation partners. In a post-pandemic context, the importance of understanding which programs or interventions worked for students has become even more urgent. The influx of federal funds such as American Rescue Plan Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief funds provided opportunities for schools and districts to explore various programs and interventions. However, with the funds ending in September 2024, it’s critical to determine which programs or interventions worked best for students and at what cost.
On March 19, 2024, from 1-2 p.m. ET, AIR is hosting a webinar, during which an expert panel will share strategies school districts can use to examine the cost implications and effectiveness of post-pandemic recovery programs. These strategies leverage the knowledge and experience of program and finance staff.
The webinar will:
- Introduce strategies for assessing program outcomes in relation to cost-effectiveness;
- Offer examples of how districts can leverage fiscal and programmatic staff to collectively weigh in on key decisions; and
- Provide considerations for serving students in greatest need (e.g., special education, English learner, low-income) and closing the opportunity gap.
