West Comprehensive Center
The West Comprehensive Center helps state, district, and school leaders in our region identify, implement, and sustain evidence-based programs and practices, with the goal of improving outcomes for educators and students.
Through the West Comprehensive Center (West CC), AIR partners with state, district, and school leaders in Arizona, California, Nevada, and Utah to empower educators and optimize student outcomes.
In doing this work, AIR supports state education agencies in their central goal of ensuring education systems meet the complex and ever-changing needs of students.
West CC supports states across a range of emerging priorities identified by education leaders in the region that include:
Student Attendance and Engagement
West CC supports state efforts to improve student attendance and engagement by helping education leaders address the root causes of chronic absenteeism. Through targeted interventions, data-informed strategies, and evidence-based practices, West CC strengthens systems that promote consistent attendance, positive school climates, and meaningful student engagement.
Literacy and Math Education
The center facilitates state efforts to improve literacy and mathematics teaching and learning through evidence-based approaches that support systemic improvement. In partnership with state agencies and regional stakeholders, West CC helps strengthen instructional practices, educator capacity, and the effective use of data to improve student outcomes.

Strategic Planning
The center partners with states to align strategy, operations, and evidence to support continuous improvement. Through strategic planning support, the center helps education leaders clarify priorities, use data and research to inform decisions, and strengthen operational capacity to advance student outcomes.
Technical Assistance for Rural Communities
West CC works with regional leaders to provide technical assistance tailored to the needs of rural communities. By developing and sharing evidence-based tools and resources, the center helps address urgent regional challenges and build local capacity to improve student outcomes.
