Connecticut has identified instructional coaching as a useful practice to implement and expand in the state.

The Connecticut State Department of Education (Connecticut SDE) is partnering with the Northeast Comprehensive Center to examine and strengthen statewide literacy instructional coaching.

This project will advance evidence-based literacy education and build systems that strengthen the teacher workforce and improve student outcomes.

Northeast CC will support the Connecticut SDE by:

  • Building understanding of current instructional coaching in Connecticut schools;
  • Conducting a scan of instructional coaching practices across the nation;
  • Reviewing research on instructional coaching;
  • Facilitating leadership roundtable discussions and conversations with districts; and
  • Developing a coaching academy model.

Through this collaboration, the Connecticut SDE will expand the use of evidence-based instructional coaching in the state and improve teaching and learning outcomes.
