Developing a State Math Plan in Wisconsin
To guide its school districts, the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI) is creating a state math plan that will give districts a shared vision, a set of clear goals and timelines, and an opportunity to share resources.
With the state math plan as a road map, Wisconsin school districts will be able to make coordinated, consistent progress in expanding the support they provide. This alignment will help DPI measure the progress that districts are making and make informed decisions about how to improve math instruction.
DPI is partnering with the Midwest Comprehensive Center to develop this state math plan and ensure that it provides a unified, scalable, and practical approach to improving math teaching and learning. This work will support systemic improvement and strengthen student math outcomes.
Midwest CC will support DPI by:
- Facilitating strategic alignment discussions to ensure the math plan connects to other DPI priorities;
- Engaging stakeholders to ensure the state math plan responds to their needs; and
- Supporting DPI as it drafts the state math plan and creates related materials.
Through this collaboration, school districts across Wisconsin will receive clear, evidence-based guidance to help them strengthen math teaching and learning.
