Principal Researcher, Analysis of Longitudinal Data in Education Research Program
Dr. Michael Hansen is a principal researcher at AIR and an affiliated researcher with CALDER (the National Center for Analysis of Longitudinal Data in Education Research). A labor economist by training, he has conducted original research on teacher quality, value-added measurement, evaluation, and teacher responses to incentives and accountability using state longitudinal data systems. Other areas of research include school turnaround and STEM learning.
Dr. Hansen has published his work in peer-reviewed research journals including American Economic Review, Economica, Education Finance and Policy, and American Educational Research Journal. He has presented his work in a variety of academic research conferences and meetings with federal, state and local education policymakers.
