Women's Groups and COVID-19: Impact, Challenges and Policy Implications

In a policy brief released in the early stages of the COVID pandemic in June 2020, the Evidence Consortium on Women’s Groups examined the implications of the pandemic and the lockdown for women’s groups. What have we learned since then? On April 13 at 9 a.m. EDT, the ECWG held a discussion on women’s groups and COVID, with the Africa Centre for Systematic Reviews, AIR, the Population Council, and the World Bank.

American Institutes for Research and Partners Launch Website on Evidence for Women’s Groups

Around the world, women join groups or collectives to overcome economic and social barriers to financing, education, healthcare and employment. There is promising research on women’s groups as an intervention strategy to improve gender equality, women’s well-being, and empowerment. AIR and its partners today launched a new website for the Evidence Consortium on Women’s Groups, a multiyear collaboration of leading research organizations funded by a grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
