Training and Technical Assistance in Health and Social Development
AIR provides training and technical assistance (TTA) that builds capacity and transforms the policies and practices of health, education, and social services agencies. Targeted change addresses policies, leadership, culture, and social norms; workforce competencies; and financial, administrative, and coordinating structures. We facilitate youth, family, and consumer engagement, wherever possible, to inform policies and practices that most affect the people we aim to serve.
Our approach draws on implementation science and diffusion-of-innovation theory. Working at the national, state, and local levels, we typically begin with a logic model that defines intended outcomes. We draw on a range of data to define the problem, context, and stage of readiness as we customize TTA plans. We advise the field in selecting the most relevant evidence-based strategies and programs to achieve outcomes. Our TTA specialists use standardized protocols, moving from assessment to planning, implementation, and sustainability. Our range of continuous learning opportunities—both in-person and online—offers reliable support as people try new things. Finally, we track and monitor inputs, outputs, and outcomes progress to chart the pathway to change.
