ESSA │2. Consultation and Performance Management
In this section, SEAs describe stakeholder engagement and consultation efforts, including how they collected and incorporated input from stakeholders, met public comment requirements, and consulted with the Governor on the plan. In addition, this section includes a description of the SEA’s performance management plan. This description must include how SEAs will review and approve LEA plans, monitor and support continuous improvement, and provide technical assistance across plan components.
AIR uses best practices in the field to support education practitioners as they engage and consult with stakeholders. Examples of our work include the Center on Great Teachers and Leaders’ Stakeholder Engagement Guide and the College and Career Readiness and Success Center’s career pathways module, Identifying and Engaging Key Stakeholders and Defining Goals of the Career Pathways System.
AIR’s performance management work utilizes consistent data-driven approaches to monitoring progress to identify specific areas where improvement is necessary and establish a process whereby supports are provided to address those areas of needs. AIR’s District and School Improvement Center has worked with several schools to support the development and implementation of performance management systems, while the Illinois Center for School Improvement provides frequent formative and summative information to Illinois CSI leadership and stakeholders on services and their effectiveness.
