Job Analysis for Electrical Training ALLIANCE

The electrical training ALLIANCE (ETA) was created over 70 years ago as a joint training program between the National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA) and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) aimed at training the best electrical workers the industry has to offer. Today, the ETA has developed into the largest apprenticeship and training program of its kind, having trained over 350,000 apprentices to journeyman status through local affiliate programs.

AIR has had a long-standing relationship with the ETA, which dates back to the 1990s. AIR has worked with ETA on several initiatives, including conducting job analyses, developing selection instruments and their accompanying supporting materials, validating the apprentice selection test battery, implementing a new selection system, conducting a norming study, and conducting a transportability study. Most recently, AIR has been working with ETA to revise selection materials for the apprenticeship program and conducting analyses of test data.
