Zena Rudo is a senior researcher at AIR. Dr. Rudo has 35 years of experience in research, family and community practice, and professional development. Her 20 years of experience in research and evaluation includes using mixed methods of data collection and analyses mainly focused on school improvement issues. Dr. Rudo serves as a principal investigator and senior researcher with the Regional Educational Laboratory Southeast. She designs and conducts research studies and provides technical analytic support to build educational research capacity at the state and local levels. Her research focus with states is on statewide longitudinal data systems, charter schools, school readiness, and improving low-performing schools.
Dr. Rudo conducts research and evaluation on other critical issues in education to inform practitioners, policymakers, researchers, and other education stakeholders. Her work includes research on school support services, school resources and finance, and family and community involvement with schools. Dr. Rudo has extensive experience managing large databases, conducting analyses, and collaborating and consulting with state departments of education. She has worked on a wide range of education policy and field research, evaluation, development, and dissemination projects.
