Virginia Hamilton is the corporate lead for design thinking and innovation at AIR. Her primary responsibilities include helping to build AIR’s new workforce development practice, with an emphasis on using human-centered design and behavioral science as levers for innovation. In addition, she is bringing innovation methods into various other practice areas in AIR. Hamilton has extensive public policy experience in skills, jobs, unemployment, job training, youth unemployment, economic development, poverty, access, equity, and the future of work. She also has extensive experience in large-scale systems change, and improving government services through participatory leadership and design thinking.
Previously, Hamilton was the West Coast Regional Administrator for the U.S. Department of Labor’s Employment and Training Administration. Prior to that, Hamilton founded and ran the California Workforce Association for 15 years.
