Seth Brown

Principal Researcher

Seth Brown is a principal researcher at AIR. Brown serves as the data collection lead, analyst, and project manager for the Impact Evaluation of Parent Messaging Strategies on Student Attendance, the first sequential, multiple assignment, randomized trail (SMART) design study in education, and plays a lead role in AIR’s Improvement Lab focusing on innovative study designs to help developers learn what works, for whom, and why. He also serves as deputy director of the Impact Evaluation of Teacher and Leader Performance Evaluation Systems, a multi-site randomized control trial examining the effectiveness of set of teacher and leader evaluation systems. Through this project, he contributed to the development of the study design and data collection instruments, serves as deputy task director for the analysis and reporting team, and oversees the study finances and staffing.

Brown also serves as the project manager for the Center on Standards, Alignment, Instruction, and Learning, where he co-leads a study on the Implementation of College and Career Readiness Standards across four states, and provides management support across other center studies. Recently, he completed work on the Middle School Mathematics Professional Development Impact Study, where he was responsible for all teacher survey, teacher knowledge and teacher practice data management and analysis.
