Scott Pulizzi is a principal education and health specialist with AIR's international team. He has more than twenty years of experience in international education in Africa, Asia, and the Caribbean. He has collaborated with learners, teachers, and policy makers to promote health, global citizenship, and sustainable development. His primary responsibilities include working across sectors so that learners are healthy to learn, and learn to be healthy. This includes developing life skills-based education, creating safe school environments, increasing access to services, and making education more inclusive.
Previously, Dr. Pulizzi was a team leader at the United Nations agency for education (UNESCO) in Paris. He convened experts and authored technical guidance that addressed priority issues in education of UNESCO’s member countries throughout the world. This included gender-based violence, bullying prevention, and girl’s education. Prior to that, he worked in civil society with teachers’ organizations and governments in 50 countries to improve education sector responses to HIV and to promote Education for All.
