Mitchell Morey

Senior Economic Researcher

Mitchell Morey is a senior economic researcher at AIR. He has extensive experience evaluating a variety of projects in developing country settings. He completed his Ph.D. in Economics at the University of Wisconsin in Madison. Dr. Morey’s dissertation employed rigorous applied econometrics to investigate the effects of international trade on individuals in developing countries. He personally managed a study on preferences for imported or domestically produced rice in Madagascar. He also has experience working in East Africa. He was part of a small team that evaluated Catholic Relief Services’ aid programming in Kenya, using a new methodology to predict the efficacy of cash-based aid as a potential replacement for food-based aid. He spent time in Madagascar as Peace Corps Volunteer before beginning his graduate studies.

Dr. Morey is currently involved in evaluations of a cash transfer program in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and an agricultural evaluation in Madagascar.
