Maureen Maurer

Principal Researcher

Maureen Maurer is a principal researcher at AIR, with more than ten years of experience in health services and communication research. Maurer is responsible for managing large, complex projects and tasks related to engaging consumers in health care and policy; developing and testing materials for patients, families, and clinicians that translate complex medical evidence; eliminating health disparities; and conducting program evaluations.

Maurer is an experienced qualitative researcher with training in interviewing, focus group moderating, public deliberation, and qualitative analysis. She is responsible for designing research studies, conducting in-depth interviews and focus groups, analyzing the results of qualitative research, managing and leading project tasks and budgets, conducting literature reviews, and contributing to reports and proposals. She has authored a number of technical reports and professional presentations. Ms. Maurer has managed projects and tasks for with multiple partners for the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ); California Healthcare Foundation (CHCF); Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC); Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS); and the National Institutes for Health (NIH). Before joining AIR, Maurer conducted a needs assessment of female refugees for Lutheran Family Services in the Carolinas and served in the Peace Corps in Mali, West Africa.
