Kristina Wu

Senior Database Specialist

Kristina Wu is a senior database specialist at AIR. She has more than 10 years of experience in information services and extensive experience in application development in all system development lifecycle. She partners with program teams to develop effective technical solutions and provides support and continued development efforts of Web technologies.

Wu leads and manages the development work of the State Library Administrative Agency Survey, which is a web based comprehensive statistical online tool funded by the Institute of Museum and Library Services. It is designed to collect the data on the governance, operations, services, transaction, staff, revenue and expenditure of the public library agencies nationwide for informing policies. It provides rigorous data entry validations for data integrity and the real time data collection reports.

Wu designs and develops the in-house survey engine capable of supporting customized question controls, complex branching logic and multiple user types. The survey engine has been used successfully for the survey projects each year with varieties of needs and formats; it greatly improves the quality of the online surveys but also shortens the development lifecycle. Wu leads and develops the comprehensive online checklist system for Indiana Diagnostic Assessment Study, which is a multi-million project to analyze teachers’ instructional practices in English language arts and mathematics.

Wu is the key developer of the pilot program to collect the individual attendee data for the 21st Century Community Learning Centers (CCLC) Profile and Performance Information Collection (PPICS) System, funded by the U.S. Department of Education. PPICS collects data from the afterschool programs nationwide and measures the performance through comprehensive analytic reports. Wu designed the system utilizing service-oriented architecture and the Microsoft .NET technology. In addition to the pilot program, she builds the framework to extend the functionalities for the PPICS system for reporting, charting, and the PDF conversion of reports. She developed the Center/Grantee-Level Programming Comparison Reports with charting to visualize the comparison of the performance data.
