Kelly A. Gilbert is a senior technical assistance consultant at AIR. With more than 18 years of experience in education, Dr. Gilbert is a servant leader with a passion for school improvement specifically working for excellence in education. As the former deputy director for the Illinois Center for School Improvement at AIR (Illinois CSI), Dr. Gilbert was responsible for leading field operations which includes managing Illinois CSI's assistant directors of district services and their teams of more than 75 staff. Dr. Gilbert currently serves on the District and School Improvement Center at AIR leadership team as well as is the Midwest Comprehensive Center as the project lead for both Minnesota and Illinois in addressing discipline disproportionality.
Prior to joining Illinois CSI, Dr. Gilbert was an administrator for Valley View Community Unit School District 365U, in Romeoville and Bolingbrook serving elementary and middle school levels as well as at the district office. She taught fourth and fifth grades previous to her role in administration in Plainfield School District 202. Dr. Gilbert began her career in 1999 as an elementary school instructor with Indian Springs School District 109.
Dr. Gilbert is a member of the Association of Supervision and Curriculum Development, the Illinois Principals Association, and the National Association of Professional Women.
