Haidee Williams, a senior technical assistance consultant at AIR, serves as the REL Southwest alliance liaison for the Oklahoma Rural Schools Research Alliance and the Texas Hispanic STEM Research Alliance. Her areas of expertise include rural school performance, science education, English learner students, college and career readiness, adult learning, and educator quality. Dr. Williams has 31 years of experience in education: seven years working with state education agencies, five years working with school districts, five years as a campus curriculum coordinator, and 18 years teaching a variety of science courses in the secondary classroom.
Prior to working in the REL Southwest, Dr. Williams provided consultations, training, and technical assistance in state identified needs that included but were not limited to coordination of state services, addressing educator quality, migrant education, dropout prevention, as well as standards-based science instruction and assessment with SEDL’s Texas Comprehensive Center and Southeast Comprehensive Center. She provided technical assistance to the state department of education staffs in these regions to meet the goals and purposes of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act and other federal mandates. These efforts are part of the Comprehensive Center projects, which provide technical assistance and support to state departments to ensure an education system with the capacity and commitment to eliminate achievement gaps and enable all students to achieve at high levels.
