David English is a technical assistance consultant at AIR supporting its work on Student Learning Objectives. He joined the AIR staff in the summer of 2014. Most recently, he worked for the U.S. Department of Education collaborating with states on the development and implementation of educator evaluation systems, school performance accountability systems, and college- and career-ready standards under the waivers from particular requirements of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (i.e., “No Child Left Behind”). This work included student learning objectives, creation of educator performance evaluation indices, and developing feedback systems.
Previously, English worked in the Office of Human Research at the George Washington University collaborating on educational research design and in institutional research for various other higher education and private organizations. He has also served as a mentor to middle-school students in District of Columbia Public Schools through the Higher Achievement program.
