Chad Duhon is a principal researcher at AIR whose work focuses on college and career readiness and success. He also has a variety of experiences managing projects and providing technical assistance.
Currently, Duhon serves as the deputy director for Monitoring Site Visits of Level 4 and Level 5 Schools in Massachusetts. The Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (ESE) contracted AIR to monitor Level 4 and Level 5 schools that are undergoing the school turnaround process. AIR is conducting monitoring site visits in these schools, collecting qualitative data from school stakeholders, including school administrators, instructional coaches, teachers, and students. He conducts monitoring site visits in Level 4 schools and manages all facets of the project, including staffing, budget projections, and resource allocation.
As analytical technical support task lead on the Regional Educational Laboratory Midwest (REL Midwest), Duhon manages more than 20 projects that help practitioners, schools, districts, and states in the Midwest region understand how to use data to inform decisions to improve student learning. REL Midwest is one of ten research centers funded by the Institute of Education Sciences (IES) at the U.S. Department of Education. Duhon works with the director to oversee project teams, manage the budget, and communicate with IES. He also works with task leads to manage the quality assurance process for all REL Midwest deliverables.
Previously, Duhon was the project manager for the College and Career Readiness and Success Center at AIR, a federally-funded technical assistance content center that serves Regional Comprehensive Centers and the states. In this role, he contributed to the development of Center products and technical assistance activities, and managed the operational work of the Center. Duhon served in a similar role on the National High School Center at AIR.
Duhon was the project director for the Best High School Rankings project with U.S. News & World Report. He provided project oversight and direction, and oversaw all components of the project—from data collection to data analysis to data reporting—and managed all facets of the project. Duhon also served as the project director for two projects in Lawrence, Massachusetts, as the district underwent state receivership with ESE.
Prior to this work, Duhon served as a project manager for the Reading First Annual Performance Report (APR) project. In this capacity, he supervised the Reading First APR data collection, which included providing technical assistance to state education agencies and processing student achievement data on multiple reading assessments from 54 state education agencies for more than 5,500 schools.
