Incorporating Technology │Personalized Learning
New technologies are rapidly changing the way teachers, administrators, families, and students interact with each other, teach, learn, and share information and data. While technology is not essential to personalized teaching and learning, it can serve to augment learning, helping align learning experiences with students’ needs.
Leveraging new technology tools, combined with evidence-based practices, to drive flexible and personalized learning can ensure that all students have the opportunity to engage with technology; to create, design, and build with it; and to become lifelong active learners. Universal design for learning promotes the creation of learning materials and environments that support all learners, rather than a one-size-fits-all solution. Universal design for learning principles appear throughout ESSA, which can serve as a catalyst for educators to use technology in innovative ways to personalize learning opportunities for each student.
