In 2016, the Office of Correctional Education in the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation embarked on a process of implementing professional learning communities (PLCs) in all 35 California state prisons. AIR provided professional development and consulting on the PLC process.

Educational attainment is negatively related to unemployment and to working part time involuntarily. The National Center for Education Statistics released a new Data Point report entitled Relationship Between Educational Attainment and Labor Underutilization. This report examines the relationship between educational attainment and the rates at which adults are unemployed or underemployed (working involuntarily part time or involuntarily in a temporary job).

Nearly five decades of research has demonstrated that the places where individuals live and learn have a dramatic impact on their opportunities and life outcomes. The College and Career Readiness and Success Center has collaborated with several state and local agencies to produce custom-designed maps using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to help leadership teams contextualize their WBL initiatives, that is, to develop a more precise understanding of how resources and socioeconomic factors are distributed.

Young adults (aged 18–39 years) who have received a cancer diagnosis can encounter significant barriers in their transition to employment. This study explored to what extent these young adults know about legal and programmatic supports that may help to address their employment-related needs, and how they would like to receive information about available resources.
