As we look back over 2018, AIR's Professional Services Division reflects on the progress we’ve made in fulfilling our mission of conducting and applying the best behavioral and social science research, evaluation, and technical assistance towards improving people’s lives.
The Special Olympics Unified Schools program creates opportunities for the social inclusion of youth with intellectual disabilities through Unified Sports, Inclusive Youth Leadership development, and Whole School Engagement activities; however, little is known about whether this program has similar effects outside the United States. To support Special Olympics in increasing its evaluation efforts of Unified Schools programs internationally, AIR partnered with Special Olympics International to develop an evaluation framework that will serve as a guide for future international evaluations.
India is the largest producer of cotton in the world. AIR and its partners conducted a social, economic, and environmental impact assessment of cotton farming in Madhya Pradesh, with the aim of better understanding the outcomes for cotton farming on the farmers and the environment.
