American Institutes for Research Wins Anthem Award for Advancing Diversity and Equity

Arlington, Va. – The American Institutes for Research (AIR) has been honored with an Anthem Award for how it shared the work of the AIR Opportunity Fund, a $225 million effort dedicated to addressing systemic barriers and creating pathways to opportunity in communities in the U.S and around the world. AIR received silver recognition in the Diversity, Equity & Inclusion category (Awareness—Impact Report) for its 2023 annual report, Creating Connections, which highlighted the Fund’s 2023 achievements, including its community-led approach to tackling disparities in education, public safety, workforce development, and community health and well-being. (In the report, the Fund is known by its previous name, the AIR Equity Initiative.)

“Through words and images, the annual report told the story of our commitment to advancing evidence-based, community-driven solution to address deep-rooted inequities,” said Rashawn Ray, vice president and executive director of the AIR Opportunity Fund. “This recognition highlights the importance of engaging others in our collaborative efforts to create lasting, positive change.”

As an Anthem Award winner, AIR joins a prestigious group of organizations, including AARP, the CDC Foundation, Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, and the United Nations.

Launched in 2021 by The Webby Awards and presented by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences, the Anthem Awards honor the purpose and mission-driven work of people, companies and organizations worldwide whose efforts amplify social impact and inspire global change. Social impact projects are evaluated across seven core causes: Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion; Education, Art, and Culture; Health; Human and Civil Rights; Humanitarian Action and Services; Responsible Technology; and Sustainability, Environment, and Climate. This year, the awards received over 2,000 submissions from 30 countries.
