Amanda Latimore

Amanda Latimore is a social epidemiologist who draws on her experience as faculty, researcher, and public health practitioner at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. Dr. Latimore has worked to support public agencies, empower communities, and leverage data to make an impact on behavioral health. She uses a variety of methodological approaches while staying grounded by the needs of public officials and service providers, and the needs of those they serve. Dr. Latimore is an adjunct assistant professor in the Department of Epidemiology at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health where she continues to teach social epidemiology. Susan Heil

Susan Heil is responsible for research and planning tasks and management of projects that evaluate federal policy, implement programs, and transform systems of care, including work in the area of opioid misuse and abuse. Dr. Heil has assisted several federal agencies with strategic planning, performance assessment and improvement, and evaluation of designated program areas. Kelly King

Kelly King is an applied behavioral scientist with over a decade of experience developing, managing, and evaluating cross-sector initiatives designed to reduce harm associated with substance use and criminal-legal system involvement. She is a skilled technical assistance provider that draws upon her expertise in mixed methods action research, cross-system data integration, and implementation science to support local, state, and national efforts to link individuals with behavioral health conditions to evidence-based treatment and recovery services. AIR CARES Advisory Board

The members of the Advisory Board collaborate with center staff on strategy, outreach, and networking opportunities around AIR’s addiction work. Each member of the board has extensive experience and expertise in the fields of public health, public safety, and/or addiction treatment and prevention.

Mady Chalk is a public policy researcher, clinician, and academician with over 30 years of experience demonstrating strong leadership, management, research, and organizational development skills in the mental health and substance abuse treatment and research fields, working with national trade and professional associations, county, state, and federal agencies. She has led major reorganization efforts in the private and public sectors; provided strategic consultation to states related to the ACA, parity compliance, quality improvement, performance measurement, data integration, use of medications in treatment, and managed care contracting.

Until 2017, Barbara Cimaglio served as deputy commissioner for the Vermont Department of Health where she oversaw the Divisions of Health Promotion and Disease Prevention, and Alcohol/Drug Abuse Programs within the Department. She led the Department’s effort to develop a comprehensive approach to working with community prevention and public health. Cimaglio was a key leader in the development of Vermont’s Care Alliance for Opioid Addiction (Hub & Spoke), the state’s response to the opioid crisis.

Geoffrey Laredo, a principal at Santa Cruz Strategies LLC, is a nationally recognized expert in addiction policy and associated public health and public policy issues. He retired from the federal civil service in 2018 after thirty years working across different agencies including the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA), National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA) and the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). Laredo was the director of the Office of Policy and Public Liaison at the National Institutes of Health. He was also  a policy fellow for the U.S. Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions, Subcommittee on Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services.
