AIR’s Darren Woodruff to Participate in Panel Discussion at NAACP Conference

Where: Hyatt Regency Hotel, Savannah, GA

Darren Woodruff, a senior research analyst at AIR, is an invited panelist at a convening hosted by the NAACP Legal Defense & Educational Fund, Inc. and African-American Male Achievement Group, Inc. from September 29 to October 1, 2011. The event, Race, Gender, Discipline and Justice: Students Locked Out of a Quality Education, will be held at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Savannah, Georgia.

Dr. Woodruff, co-director of the National Center on Response to Intervention (RTI), will participate in a Friday morning panel, “Alternatives to Punitive Disciplinary Practices,” where he will present on “Using RTI to Address the Achievement Gap and Disproportionality in Special Education.” The three-day multi-stakeholder convening will address issues surrounding race, gender and school discipline and brings together policy, legal and community advocates, researchers, educators and public officials from across the country who share a commitment in addressing these issues.
