The National Charter School Resource Center (Resource Center) at AIR, funded by the U.S. Department of Education, is designed to aid development of high-quality charter schools. The Resource Center organizes conferences, publishes a monthly newsletter, leads an ongoing series of webinars, and supports a variety of technical assistance focused on critical issues facing the charter school community.
The Resource Center’s website serves as a hub for accessing a wide range of information gathered by the staff. Focus areas include collaboration between charter schools and traditional district schools, provision of special education, the charter school option for military families, facilities acquisition and financing, and charter school governance and oversight.
Recent projects include development of the National Authorizer-Charter School Catalog, a database that links every charter school nationwide with the authorizer responsible for granting the charter; and a regularly updated list of grant opportunities available to charter schools from diverse federal agencies and private funders.
Tammie Knights directs the Resource Center.
