Paul Bailey is a senior economist at AIR. He joined AIR in 2012, after receiving a Ph.D. in economics at the University of Maryland. Before that, he earned a master’s degree in statistics from The University of Chicago.
Anne Diffenderffer is a survey research specialist for Survey and Data Sciences at AIR. In this role, she provides survey operations expertise in all aspects of the survey data collection: planning, execution, quality control and reporting.
Nicholas Sorensen is a principal researcher at AIR, and director of the technology for teaching and learning practice area. His research is primarily focused on dropout prevention and helping struggling students succeed across the transition to high school.
Juliette Berg is a senior researcher at AIR. She has methodological expertise in research design, program evaluation, implementation science, and advanced quantitative methods. She has content expertise in school climate and social-emotional learning. Dr.
Rui Yang is a senior researcher at AIR. His major areas of interest and expertise include program and project evaluation, experimental design, measurement of non-cognitive skills, and cross-cultural comparisons. In particular, Dr.
Deb Gurke is a senior researcher at AIR. Some of her current work is based in AIR’s collaborative research practice area, in particular contributing to the Regional Educational Laboratory (REL) Midwest.
Jill Bowdon is a researcher at the American Institutes for Research. Dr. Bowdon has extensive training in statistical methods appropriate for making causal inferences, including experimental design and quasi-experimental methods.
Jessica Newman is a researcher focused on promoting positive youth development in and out of school. Her work focuses on the practices that promote social and emotional learning and youth development, with an emphasis on out-of-school time programming.
Fausto A. López is a bilingual, Spanish speaking, senior technical assistance consultant working on afterschool and expanded learning initiatives at AIR. He provides technical assistance, training, and professional development to diverse audiences in the education and out-of-school time sectors.
